Come on out, River. The nice man wants to kidnap you.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

A few of the things that are extra-funny are the very Seattle things. For instance, weather scientist Cliff Mass. Who is a real guy who really does have a blog that many of us follow (and used to be on the radio). I just re-read it and enjoyed many parts all over again, even if some of the main plot was not my favorite

Now I should read this! Because Cliff Mass!

My library website is down, so I'm just going to leave it here that Sharp Objects is the Gillian Flynn book I haven't read yet.

My favorite Gillian Flynn. Structurally, Gone Girl is better, but Sharp Objects is the one that sticks with me most.

sj, have you tried any of Megan Abbot's novella-length stuff?

You really should, Plei--there's a bunch of Microsoft stuff that I'm sure I only partly got, and so on...

Same.

Nope, but I'll look into it. I've settled on Stephen King's Joyland for now. I honestly have enough unread books on my shelf and on my kindle that I have no need to buy any more, not that that ever stops me.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Today is Beverly Cleary's 100th birthday.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

From that link:

Publisher HarperCollins recognizes her birthday, April 12, as National Drop Everything and Read Day (D.E.A.R.), in promotion of sustained silent reading.

I'm in!

Yes, except for my lunchbreak, my "in" was more theoretical than practical, unfortunately.

Hey. New board.

I just finished Mirror Dance in my own epic re-read. But it turns out I had never read Mirror Dance at all! I don't think I own the Miles Errant omnibus in paperback, so there we are. I honestly am not sure I've read anything past this point.

I am taking a brief Vorkosibreak to read Where'd You Go, Bernadette? and then I will tackle Memory

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Mmm, Mirror Dance is so good. I still find the existence of the omnibuses (is that the right plural? Omnibi?) confusing, but having them is pretty convenient.

Have I mentioned that my Barrayar immersion is giving me cravings for kasha? Mmm, groats.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

For eating? my understanding is that their primary use is in the wedding ceremony (joke).

Although from the books they sound like oatmeal, more or less.
