Stephanie Meyer has published a new Twilight book
It's not Midnight Sun or another side story. It's a retelling of the first book....genderswapped.
We have been afflicted with the romance of clumsy human boy Beau and ridiculously attractive vampire girl Edythe.
.....
Yeah, I got nothing.
There's not a known, safe method of inducing aphasia, is there?
I dunno, Twilight itself seems to render people incoherent most of the time.
Or did you mean "amnesia"?
McKinley's Sunshine and Rose Daughter are also on sale - $1.99.
Ohhh... and The Hero and the Crown!
Or did you mean "amnesia"?
Amnesia would only protect the individual reader. Aphasia, induced in the right person, could protect millions. (And it'd be a two-birds-with-one-stone deal, as preventing Meyer from writing would also prevent James!)
I don't know, I think it's kind of nifty, an author's fanfiction about her own work getting published. Very ourobouros, publishing will eat itself.
I'm not going to read it, but hey, a lot of things get published that I have no intention of reading. The existence of this one at least amuses me.
And it will probably make some people pause and go "I wonder what Story X would be like if we swapped genders there . . . huh. That's kind of cool." Making people think about story structure is a good thing.
I'm actually surprised she went with that since she's so "with talent on loan from God," about her work overall. Maybe her agent was, like, "Look, Steph, it's this or we need a new idea." and her dreams aren't worth transcribing lately.
Ok, so I finished my reread of all the Tiffany Achings in preparation for the last new Pratchett. And it is very clear to me that I have been taking an absurdly long time (for me) to do so, because I don't want there to be a last new Pratchett. Am I ready for it now? Should I just embark on a lifetimes denial that the book exists?
