Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Finished Discovery of Witches trilogy this evening. It was entertaining, if probably not worth the $10 I paid for it in a fit of fear I'd run out of book on my flight. And that takes me to 162 books read so far this year. Plus a few I'm half finished with here and there (some abandoned on my kindle, or at least abandoned until I can't find anything else I like, at least one non fiction that I have from the library in hardback and have only been reading at home because it's so unportable..) I think if my job changed, I would miss not only the actual travel, but the hours spent reading on planes.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I posted a review of Uprooted here: [link] (not spoilery for anything beyond the premise).

Thrive to spite them

I just finished Pocket Apocalypse by Seanan McGuire and I liked but probably not as much as the other InCryptid books. I haven't read the short stotie that go along with that series. I need to do that..

What I really want to read is another book from the Indexing universe but I don't know if she has plans for that.

Never really got into the October Daye series but I may give that another try.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

askye,

The next "season" of Indexing will start in August. Pre-orders are on Amazon now.

The wide universe is the ocean I travel, and the earth is my blue boat home

I've read all the InCryptid books, but the first two were my favorites by far. I miss Verity!

It's actually been a really hard year, when you stop and do the math. Eliot would cry, too, if it didn't take him seventy minutes of therapy, two cocktails, and a Sondheim medley before he can experience a human emotion through the haze of his PTSD.

I think the next one goes back to Verity again.

Thrive to spite them

Cool I'll go and pre order right now! I really like the world building in that one,

I got all settled down to the idea of re reading the InCryptid series but then I realized I've turned in my phone for charging (uh, I'm in an inpatient psych situation right now) so I may try to read on the chromebook, I assue there's a kindle app for it but maybe not. I knew I should have had my actual kindle brought with me.

Uh - anyone have suggestions for some good free/cheap ebooks I can download and read I keep picking bad ones.
