There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Did you know that there are books about Laura Ingalls Wilder's female antecedents? Her Scottish great-grandmother Martha, her Bostonian grandmother Charlotte and her mother, Caroline. Information about the books at the author's website.
For those who are interested, Wolf Hall starts tonight on PBS.
I am so watching that later. Deb Harkness was talking about it on Wednesday and I was in all kinds of agreement, and then realized I was talking fannish tv with Deb Harkness.
Maybe I'll catch it online, since I work Sunday evenings.
mind blown, by that comment, Norah.
Ha Kat! Yes. It was the night of the big event I put on at USC and, since she's a USC prof, I had asked her to be the speaker. She was terrific, and it was fun just chatting with her too. She's very charming.

I was supposed to be doing freelance work this weekend but I sadly spent far too much time kibbitzing on the amazing meltdown involving the Hugo nominations. It's a complete fucking trainwreck, and I feel sorry for just about everyone except the assholes who brought it about (and the trolls who signed up to make it happen).
I loved Goblin Emperor and enjoyed Ancillary Sword, but if Lock In or The Three-Body Problem were better novels, they'll never now get a chance to compete to find out.
And I'm actively pissed off that Yoon Ha Lee didn't make the nominations list because of that bigot John C. Wright.
