I think Wee Free Men (the first Tiffany Aching book) is as good a place as any to start Discworld. It is a YA/children's book, but it has the patented humor and heart, plus a young girl as the protagonist. Crivens!
I'm listening to Mort today; the only thing wrong with it is that it's not Stephen Briggs reading, but Nigel Planer. Planer is ok, but he's not as good as Briggs.
My faux-son's name is Steven Briggs. I always blink when I see Stephen Briggs and wonder "Stevie, what is this secret life of yours?"
Thanks, everyone! I think that sounds like a good starting point, Consuela.

Crivens! indeed. I love those four books to pieces.
And also several (all) the others.
Another Amazon link of possible interest: Robin McKinley's Deerskin for $1.99 - [link]
Robin McKinley is wonderful.
I love Robin McKinley, as well ... although that particular book might call for a trigger warning.
Part of my post-Hubby life is to glean his books that I'm not interested in out of the library. As I gain shelf space, I'm finding my old books and giving them room to breathe. It's rather cool to see shelves filling up with my mind's things.
That's a great deal; I have her whole ouevre... most ALL of her books and anthologies are also on Scribd.com. IJS.
LOVE Scribd!
