Jilli - what is the book that you are denying yourself?
I have been making use of the uni library to get things like "The Goldfinch" by Donna Tartt. . . picked it up yesterday and read about a page.
I still owe the public library my heart's blood so I cannot yet take books out there.
Meanwhile, Amazon tells me that my copy of the new Rothfuss has arrived. . . I'm not sure I recall what happened in the first two. Should I dive in? Or re-read?
sumi, it's not the third book. It's a novella about Auri, so as long as you basically remember who she is, you should be fine.

Prince Lestat, the Brand! New! Anne Rice Novel! Which is supposed to be set immediately after Queen of the Damned, which means none of the body-switching, Lestat goes to Heaven/Hell/trips balls nonsense! Just ... Lestat having been a rock star, being kidnapped and fed super-powerful ancient blood, and nearly helping to destroy most of civilization?
Look, I know they're lurid and cracky books. But, Lestat! My one true charming monster woobie!
Ah.
I should have guessed - but I quit the Anne Rice habit some time ago.
Then again, sumi, The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear are always worth a re-read!
I have the new Ancillary novel on my Kindle, but I can't read it until I finish reading So Big by Edna Ferber. Which is really good!

Ancillary Sword is really really good. I thought Justice lost its way a bit in the final chapter, but this one picks up those plot threads and just runs away with them in a really fun way.

Oh. Oh! Really? I want to read that!

Cool. I'm 206 on the list, with 130 copies. That's not bad. But maybe I should check the ebook list, too.

Okay, added to that list, too. I'm 17 on the list, with 4 copies. I'm curious to see which one turns up first.
