Anyone read/reading The Goblin Emperor?
Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."
My hold just came in at the library, so sometime in the next couple weeks, yes.
Sox, I got it and loved it, even though I didn't love Monette's other work. Didn't want this to end.
Also, yay Ancillary Justice won the Clarke Award!
I want to talk about all the things!
And YES I am so happy for Ann and Ancillary Justice - Just super ridiculous happy. And her tweet was classic/perfect.
Yes, I read it when it came out. I thought it was sweet and charming; I quite like Monette's collabortations with Bear, and her short stories, anthologized in "The Skeleton Key," are wonderful.
So, I finished Night Circus last night (staying up super-late), and while I know I was already emotionally compromised from my show earlier, I burst into tears at the end. I just didn't want it to be over. I didn't want the field to be empty.
I've got one disc left of Night Circus and everything is going haywire and I don't understaaaaaaand.
Similarly, I'm about 100 pages from the end of The Golem and the Jinni and everything is going haywire but I do understaaaaaaaaand.
Loving both these books.
Unrelatedly, Steph, would you like a signed copy of Shades of Milk and Honey ? This part is very important: would you, unlike me, mind that it's the original cover that won't match with the rest of your books?
Oooh, that would be cool, thank you! (And I generally don't mind mismatched covers, with the exception of covers that are a photo from the movie version, because...no. And since there's no movie version to contend with in this case, I reiterate my "yes, please"!)
Should I have her sign it to "Steph" or "Stephanie"?
Let's go with the one-syllable version.
