So the new Temeraire novel is out. I just downloaded it onto my Kindle...

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."
Whoa, I had no idea that was out! Must track down a copy.
I'm halfway through, and it's dealing with one of my bullet proof narrative kinks. Yum.
Requested from the library! I'm glad you're enjoying it, Suela.
ION, romance readers will want to check out this video of romance authors answering a very important question. My coworker made it and it's short and funny: [link]
That's cute.
Did anyone else read The Passage by Justin Cronin? I'm only 137 pages in (of 879) but I can't put it down.
I just finished Gone Girl, and (a) omgwtf, and (b) of course Ben Affleck is playing Nick in the movie, because who else?

I started it but abandoned it after about 40 pages. I don't know why... but it was one of the first books on my nook that I got and I just never finished it.
Amy, I read it when I came out and really loved it. Sadly, its sequel is a mess, which was mightily disappointing. It's a trilogy though, so I'm hoping Cronin will tie it all together in the end.
Jesse, yes, I see him in the role easily. As soon as I read Gone Girl, I read her first two books. Very dark and gruesome, and I loved them.
I have the same thoughts on The Passage (and the sequel) that javachik does.
My biggest issue with The Passage was that it needed more editing. It didn't need to be almost 800 pages.
It is pretty indulgent, but so far I don't mind. Sad to hear about The Twelve, though I know I'll probably read it anyway.
I also like that I didn't know it was set in a not-too-distant future. The world is pretty much the same as we know it, and then suddenly he's talking about the Mall of America Massacre or New Orleans being turned into a giant petrochemical factory or border checkpoints and it all seems chillingly plausible.
