Fred: So you don't worry that it's possible for someone to send out a biological or electronic trigger that effectively overrides your own sense of ideals and values and replaces them with an alternative coercive agenda that reduces you to a mindless meat puppet? Shopkeeper: Wow. People used to think that I was paranoid.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Am I going to be heartbroken?

Yes, yes you will.

But you won't regret it.

Oh, as usual, dear. Well, I can't put it aside while I gird up my loins - it's a library book (overdue). I shall just have to dive in with new fierceness of purpose (and brace myself).

Why'd it have to be so well written, drat it.

Because books.

I'm on the third Montmaray book now, and loving it, as well.

Sara read Wonder and she adored it. I want to read it, too.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I just started Code Name Verity too! And I also picked up the second book (I think it's a sequel, or at least has some of the same characters?) at the same time -- they were in an airport bookstore in Heathrow, and I couldn't resist.

Also, a big thank you to everyone who recommended Among Others by Jo Walton. I read it this week and, oh, it made me so happy.

The second book is out? I missed that!

I'd like to read Among Others, too.

Yes. Set after the first and with an American ATA officer captured in a concentration camp. It's not available yet in the US.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Aargh. It's not supposed to be out here until September.

Yes, it's not out here until the fall, which is why I couldn't resist buying a copy in Britain.
