I need some readerly advice. If one wanted to know more about Death, Terry Pratchet's Discworld, after having only seen a couple of the lovely tv shows - "Color of Magic" and "Hogfather", etc - without having read any of the Discworld books yet, which book might be most profitable as starting points?
ETA: I ask this, having read the Wikipedia entry on it, so having some clue which books Death is in as more than just a cameo. But if does not necessarily really tell me which is the best starting point for a complete n00b.
Mort is the one I'd recommend, I think. Unless you just want to start with Colour of Magic and plow through them all, of course.

Ah, thank you. Bookmarked the link, too.
Five pages into
Mort
and I can say YES.
Also I love instant downloads. I resisted e-readers but I love not having to wait for a new book to come in the mail.
Yeah, definitely Mort, and also Hogfather.
Hogfather is probably my favorite, but Reaper Man is so lovely and quietly heartbroken/breaking.
Plus Hogfather has Susan!
Oh yeah, Reaper Man too. I just love all the Death books.
And all the Witches books.
And all the Vimes books.
Um.
Liese, I love all the Discworld books except the Rincewind ones. And even then, The Last Continent is pretty damn funny.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of Rincewind either, except when he ran into Cohen the Barbarian.
