Amazon to acquire Goodreads: [link]
Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."
That makes me very sad. I think I preferred when they were fighting.
Better than Facebook? I don't know. I don't want Amazon to acquire everything, for one. And I can foresee every time I buy a book, an auto-post to my Goodreads account or something, and I don't like that. They could even do it for wish list items, I guess.
I don't want to link my FB and Goodreads accts either. I don't even "like" anything on FB. I hate that the "recommended" way to log in to places like Hulu is now via FB. Ugh.
wrod. to the thousandth power. Everybody doesn't need to know my everything.
My accounts are already linked, although sometimes I wish they were not. I really don't need to know when a relative reads 50 Shades of Grey.
I have the new Mercy Thompson book from the library! Just in time for a weekend away.

Co-signed! I realize this is probably a losing battle, but I really don't want every other site on the internet to be linked to my FB account or to know what I post about myself there.

I read it! It is good!
I also read the new Anne Bishop, which I also liked.
Visiting family = satisfying new book jones, thanks to my sister and mine's overlapping tastes. Ahh...
I'm with you all. I have a dummy FB acct that I use to register for sites if I need to. So far, I have only used it with one site that would not respond to customer support email messages.
Fans of Steven Brust and Scott Lynch may want to wander over to Cooking the Books. While done purely for fun, Lynch's "Fate of Beloved Characters" recipe may resonate particularly.
