Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I was disappointed that Sunshine by Robin McKinley did not have a cookbook. sigh ....

Yeah. I want the Death of Marat cake. I also want a sequel to the book, but I've resigned myself to that not happening.

The Night Circus is another book that stand alone. Erin Morganstern has said she's not writing a sequel for it. Again, I am not thrilled about this news. I want more of that world.

Just one of the reasons Jane Yolen is one of my heroes.

We just added a Jane Yolen graphic novel about fencing to the school library! I squeed on 3 fronts! (The one before the one she writes about above.)

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

That's wonderful. I read a bunch of Jane Yolen when I was a kid. I think my favorite was Wizard's Hall.

I'm looking for recommendations for a friend. She just read, and loved, Jo Walton's "Tooth and Claw". Previously she's like Connie Willis' "To Say Nothing of the Dog" and Neil Gaiman's "Neverwhere". Any suggestions for what else for me to send?

Thanks. She's got a very busy month coming up and needs something to look forward to when the month is over.
