Code Name Verity is so fantastic I can't believe it. It really makes me want to read her other stuff.
Her other stuff is very much fantasy, though, and what I loved about this book was its truth, no pun intended. It was gritty and painful and beautiful at the same time, and I adored the characters. Like, adore as in, I might consider a tattoo that says, "
Fly the plane, Maddie.
", for real.
Amy, if you figure out how to lend Kindle books, I'd love to borrow it after I finish going through all the Holmes books!
Sox could be right -- only some are lendable, and I'm not exactly sure how to do it, but I'll check it out.
On the issue of lending ebooks:

For anyone not yet in possession of an e-reader...
I'm currently being very tempted by a deal-of-the-day for a $40 (plus $5 shipping) re-furbed Kindle.

I already have a Kobo (Borders' ereader before they went belly-up), but I'm tempted (or looking for an excuse) to do compare and contrast.
If you want, you can read my blog post about a sample of "Atlas Shrugged" here.

It's also my 300th personal blog post.
Heads up: Mark Reads
Newsflesh
starts September 3! He's reading
Feed, Countdown, Deadline, San Diego 2014,
and
Blackout.
He is entirely unprepared. It's going to be awesome.
ORLY?!
I have now read "Feed" in 4 states, thankyou. I will have to follow this, maybe participate! Fun!
Join the comments! It'll be good times! Two of the mods have capslock-flailed their way through the series over on Spoils, and another just has the third one to go, but she's head over heels too. I can't wait to read all the newbies' reactions to everything.
He starts right after the Hugos, so it's perfect timing, especially if she wins!
Ok, that made me bookmark(NPI) Mark Reads.(I already have Mark Watches bookmarked)
