Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I'm not sure whether to squee with glee or start praying madly to the Editing Gods that someone, well, actually has time to edit it.

"Do you want it fast, or do you want it right?"

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Yay!! Now I'm just trying to figure out how I'm going to buy it--do I sign up at the local Borders, who had an amusing if small-scale fan party before handing out copies at midnight when I got OotP, or do I order it through Amazon and then go and enjoy the crowds in Oak Park like I did with ChiKat for HBP (which was a blast!). Oak Park has a massive blocks-wide celebration when any new HP book comes out. They turn their shopping district into "Diagon Alley," with "Quidditch" games and Human Chess in the park, the stores all renaming themselves after various Diagon Alley stores, and tons and tons of people. Very fun to watch, that's for sure!

And, we can all go see OotP that night to prepare, since it's coming out the week before. All Harry, all the time, in mid-July--get ready for the media onslaught now!

Punishingly Intricate

Now I'm just trying to figure out how I'm going to buy it

As the employee of one, I'm contractually (and, morally) obliged to say "Support your local independent bookstore!" if at all possible.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I'm preordering from amazon.ca. I'm a purist, and they use the same text as the UK editions.

Beyond that, it depends on geography

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I thought books were underlined and movies italicised. Where's our style guide?

Shit's all sorts of different now.

We don't trust the style guide. It speaks against gauchos.
