Now we're saving a vampire from vampires. I got two words for that -- Nuh and uh.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

not your mom's socks.

I was able to interview Gregory Frost the other day about the research he did on 1840s cuisine for an upcoming book. [link] He chipped in a recipe for etouffee at the end.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Ooh, my copy of the last Parasol Protectorate book has shipped!!!

Man, my library doesn't even have it on order yet. I may have to go ahead and buy it. I'd get the Kindle version, but that isn't available yet.

Mind will arrive on Tuesday!

Ooh, Kindle Deal of the Day Dracula's Guest: Connoisseurs Collection of Victorian Vampire Stories.

Hmmm, tempting.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Your petticoat is showing, Jilli. (Imagine my grin)

I feel like the worst churl. After three assaults, I still am unable to get past Chapter one of the first Parasol Protectorate book. I seem unable to find the hook. And it's mildly upsetting because the books seem so beloved by many, and appear to be about things I enjoy.

I may back off and take another run at it, soon.

Ha! I am leaving that typo there.

After three assaults, I still am unable to get past Chapter one of the first Parasol Protectorate book.

Hmmm. Are there things that specifically put you off of it, or is it just that you don't feel compelled to keep reading?

Don't beat yourself up about it, Beverly. I bought the first three as a Kindle package for $10, and I liked them well enough, but not enough to track down the rest.

Not everything is for everybody, even among Buffistas.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

What typo?

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Beverly, I bought and read the first three, but they never really appealed to me the way they do to so many others. This is why there are so many books published that aren't the same (barring random plagiarists).

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I actively disliked the POV character from the start. I kept hoping she'd grow on me, but basically I just wanted to smack her.

I could have been a wee titch hormonal at the time.
