Jayne: What're you gonna tell the others? Mal: About what? Jayne: About why I'm dead. Mal: Hadn't thought about it. Jayne: Make something up. Don't tell 'em what I did.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Oh, I got OPINIONS. It wouldn't let me use my LJ OpenID, but I got the Google sign-in to work.

I still haven't read Middlemarch. One day. Maybe. My votes go to Midnight's Children, Shadow of the Wind, Lolita, A Prayer for Owen Meany, and Crime and Punishment.

not your mom's socks.

megan, I had trouble with OpenID too, but I went in under my google ID. What a great list of books.

I posted a catalog of sorts of my 2011 reading - already I've realized I left some things off. [link]

The status is NOT quo.

Lolita and Owen Meany are two of my favorites.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Yeah, I was pretty sure with that list that I would end up reading Owen Meany, Lolita, and Midnight's Children.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I'm intrigued to see where it ends up.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Yeah, I was pretty sure with that list that I would end up reading Owen Meany, Lolita, and Midnight's Children.

If I could vote for three that's what I'd pick.

I picked Owen Meany (but I voted). But John Irving is my favorite modern author, so it is to be expected.

Ooh! Did you read The Water Method Man? I think that's his funniest.

I did read the Water Method Man, but I haven't re-read recently. I always thought Hotel New Hampshire was the funniest-- the stuffed dog named Sorrow!!!-- and you are laughing and laughing, and then you are crying.

Water Method Man always makes me want to pee (for obvious reasons)
