Mal: You tell me right now, little Kaylee, you really think you can do this? Kaylee: Sure. Yeah. I think so. 'Sides, if I mess up, not like you'll be able to yell at me.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh, I'm glad you're going, Jilli. I'm reading Snuff right now (AIFG, of course) and it's making me all sentimental about him in general and how ridiculously kind he was to meet a bunch of internet fans for dinner a million years ago specifically. Somehow, knowing you will see him is almost as good as seeing him myself.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Sir Terry has always been so kind to his fans; it's one of the things I admire most about him.

I'll be sure to post a report of the talk. He's not doing a book signing; he pre-signed a bunch of books for the bookstore hosting the event, but no one's getting to meet him.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

On the one hand, I'm excited, 'cos Sir Terry! On the other hand, this is going to be bittersweet, because this is probably the last book tour he'll be doing. I'm wearing cry-proof eyeliner, just to be safe.

Sometimes it's good to cry.

And you're interviewing the Damned?

I think 2011 is sorry and is trying to make up.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Just wanted to spread the word that my college roommate (Stasia, who writes Writer on the Side) will soon be in the LA area to promote her YA, a novel in verse about dance (pubbing on my birthday no less).

Here are the details:

Thursday 20 OCTOBER - Mrs. Nelson's, La Verne at 5 pm Gretchen McNeil and Stasia Kehoe with special guest Elise Allen

Sunday 23 OCTOBER - Vroman's, Pasadena at 2 pm Allen Zadoff, Gretchen McNeil, Stasia Kehoe with special guest Elise Allen

All authors spent their teen years as performers and will talk about how these experiences found their way onto the pages of their novels. Gretchen McNeil is a voice actress and sings with the group Cirque Berzerk and Elise Allen “co-wrote” Elixir with Hilary Duff. Stasia says that both are absolute hoots and entertainment-industry insiders so the events should be fun.

ETA: She does know about the Buffistas (and is a Buffy fan) so feel free to mention it.
