I use a gallon-sized ziploc bag with my iPad. The touch screen is still usable with it on.

Dan and I bought a color nook a few weeks ago as a mutal bday present, and it's fucking awesome.
Yes, the battery life is about 8 hours, but it charges really quickly, and if you have kids, the interactive books are cool as hell, and the color looks better than on a iPad.
We bought it mainly to be an e-reader, and because I already had 140 books on my PC Nook, but I am REALLY glad we did. It's an excellent e-reader (it's backlit, but at night, I just dial the brightness down to the lowest level, and have not problems with eyestrain) and it's a great mini-tablet, too.
It's a little heavier than the Kindle, but I usually read with a book propped on a pillow on my belly or on a pillow lying on my side in bed, so it's a non-issue for me.
I LURVES it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.
My kitchen is set up so that there's a foot or so wide section on the left of my stove that's away from all the fuss and I never do any mixing or measuring of foodstuffs there. It's where the recipe lives whether it's book or electronic.

I love the Kindle app on my iPhone and iPad. Now I can carry vampire books with me ALL THE TIME.
(However, I am always going to be the teensiest bit bitter about the ebook revolution. Goddammit, Microsoft Reader was great, and if the PTB had listened to some of us, it would have been a major player in the market. Grrrr.)

One of my biggest loves of my nook is that I can convert really long fics into epubs and put them on there and not have to be pushing the down button on my Palm every second to get to the next screen. Plus, italics that work.

Yep, that one. It's better than a lot of the free/cheap stuff on amazon! The formatting came out a bit weird but it's reminding me a bit of the fake news article about the books being about Hermoine--I am quite enjoying something from her viewpoint. I haven't read much potterfic in years.

Downloaded a program designed to get things off FFN actually--I read the first couple chapters online and then realized how long it is...ice been reading it for hours (and I read fast--usually finish a book in an hour or two) and I'm only 30% done.
