Spike: Ladies. Come on in. Plenty of blood in the fridge, don't be shy. Dawn: You mean like, real blood? Spike: What do you think? Dawn: Mostly I think, 'Eew!'

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

"Oh no! Has falling sky liquid once again caused you the sadness?" -Starfire

I'm about a quarter of the way into Patrick Rothfuss' In the Name of the Wind and I am loving it so much!

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Ooh, here's something to rile people up:

That's a standard Slate technique: slap a contrarian headline on an otherwise uncontroversial article, to gather links. Or on an article that takes a contrarian stand.

I mean, this is the website that gave us a two page article on the horrors of pie.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

It's good stuff! It gets better!

That's a standard Slate technique: slap a contrarian headline on an otherwise uncontroversial article, to gather links. Or on an article that takes a contrarian stand.

Heh. Yeah, the actual article itself wasn't super inflammatory.

Because books.

Gravity's Rainbow sure took a beating, though.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Gravity's Rainbow sure took a beating, though.

All of it deserved.

Re: Heyer - my absolute favorite of all is Venetia. The ones listed above are excellent as well.

Because books.

I have still never read any Heyer. As a former romance editor (who acquired traditional Regencies! no sex!), I should be ashamed.

This is when I wish I had an e-reader already, too.

information libertarian

You don't have to have an e-reader to read Kindle books - there's a free app for computers, smartphones, tablets, etc.
