Let me start by saying I know nothing about Discworld except there are a ton of books and they're written by Terry Pratchett. But over and over again, I've been told that I should read Wee Free Men, so I finally decided to give it a shot.
I'm in love. I've only read one chapter so far, but I just want to scoop Tiffany up and take her home with me!
The girl read the dictionary! Because no one told her you're not supposed to!
And then this exchange:
"Zoology, eh? That's a big word, isn't it."
"No, actually it isn't," said Tiffany. "Patronizing is a big word. Zoology is really quite short."
And then the fact that she so easily took out the water monster while using her little brother as bait! So awesome! So very, very awesome!
I'm almost giddy from the joy this book has brought me so far! And it's only the first chapter!

OH SNAP! A friend gave me the first two books in their combined form for my birthday last year, but I haven't read them yet. How many books Tiffany Aching books are there? I wonder if the others will be released in a combined form. My bookshelf will look weird otherwise.

Again, I'll pimp for the audiobook version which is exceptionally funny. You want the version read by Stephen Briggs.
Emmett and I say, "Waily! Waily!" all the time, particularly when discussing lawyers.
I start by saying that i loved Feed and Deadline. But i has a complaint. A kvetch, if you would. The fully grown clones with memories really bug. That's not how cloning works. I would totally accept a younger Georgia clone, since she was tested since the retinal KA showed in childhood and they could easily have started a clone then which would be an adult by now, but still younger than the original Georgia and without her memories. I think it bugs because the rest of the science is so spot on. I mean, i don't know anything about virology but the science described in Feed was so incredibly plausible that i never once doubted that two genetically modified viruses could totally created the undead. No need for willing suspension of belief - i BELIEVED. But this clone BS pulled me out of the story and made me feel by betrayed by the author's science. I sure do hope it gets explained in the next book. Not that i require that explanation, i'll still read and it and prob love it, but it still bugs.

erin, that was my objection exactly. HOWEVER ... since she does seem to have a good grasp of the science, I think I just figured out something that would make it possible. PC indicated that there was some kind of twist that would make it work.

As -t said, there are 4. They're splendid, and David's right about the audiobooks. Stephen Briggs is a marvelous reader.
