It's because you didn't have a strong father figure isn't it?

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

That was actually pretty helpful! I vaguely remember some of that now!

not your mom's socks.

Anyone here reading NK Jemisin's books yet? I tore through them - interested in hearing how other folks felt about them.

Anyone here reading NK Jemisin's books yet?

I read the first one and liked it enough to get the second, but it's buried in my backlog. I met Nora at Wiscon a few years back: she is quite marvelous, I must admit.

Right now I'm halfway through UK LeGuin's Powers, which is the last of the Chronicles of the Western Shore. These are wonderful, btw, although the first one (Gifts) doesn't have much of a storyline.

OH! I have Powers, I think - I should look for it.

What's Wiscon? (sorry I'm slow today). The second is very different - I liked it, though the first has a great pacing.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I read the first Jemisin book and JUST got the second one.

Good news bad news - Borders is closing the two stores in town (bad news); everything's on sale (good news ... except for my wallet).

Wiscon is a feminist SF con held in Madison over Memorial Day every year. I've been a few times, along with Betsy & Nutty.

Art Crawl!!!

Wow. That sounds like fun.

I read the 2nd Jemisin book thinking it was the first one and really enjoyed it. So now I'm reading the first one.

FYI - the second Rothfuss book is on shelves tomorrowish. At least, Amazon is shipping my copy now.
