This girl at school? She told me that gelatin is made from ground-up cow's feet and that every time you eat Jell-O there's some cow out there limping around without any feet. But I told her that I'm sure the cow is dead before they cut its feet off, right?

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Enjoy Hunger Games, P-C!

I am so far! Katniss is awesome.

I'm currently reading Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie, and my god is the man verbose. The book is apparently the story of the life of Saleem Sinai, who, on page 107, hasn't been born yet.

Hee, yep!! I loved it.

Katniss IS awesome. I'm glad you're liking it so far!!

Midnight's Children is also very good so far! A lot of words and I feel like I'll never get through it, but I'm enjoying what I've read.

Katniss IS awesome.

She is! I want her to KILL THEM ALL. And then I realize what it is exactly I am wanting and feel kind of bad.

Right? It was a weird feeling for me too. I obviously wanted her to win, but... all those dead children is just so sad. How far are you?

Also, that was QUITE a journey you had to go through to get a copy of Midnight's Children!

Six or seven chapters in, right after she scores an eleven and Peeta decides to be coached separately. I'm enjoying learning how the Games work, but I'm anxious to get to the actual fighting! I knew next to nothing about the books before reading, so everything's been a surprise.

Also, that was QUITE a journey you had to go through to get a copy of Midnight's Children!

I know, right?

And remember guys, you can always get Project Gutenberg public domain books for free in EPUB format that you can read on your Nook. Or html or mobipocket or a whole bunch of other formats too, because Project Gutenberg is awesome.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I just finished reading a YA book called "I Am Not Esther" - set in New Zealand, a young girl being raised by her mother (father's dead) is dumped into her mother's family, who are members of a super-conservative cult. All about her trying to find out where her mother's gone (supposedly Africa to work with refugees - she's a nurse), try to fit in with the family without losing herself.

Anyone else know it?
