There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Oh man, megan, have I mentioned how much I want to join your book club??

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

It has worked pretty well so far (esp. the quests and horror discussions), especially for discovering new things I want to read. I think it might work online if we had a dedicated thread for the monthly conversation.

Because books.

I love the idea, too, because I think the themes would be a lot of fun to discuss. And part of the reason book clubs often don't work for me is so often the individual title is not something I don't want to read at the moment.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Same for me, Amy. I have dozens of books in my To Be Read list, and what I read next is often chosen arbitrarily, and books get added willy-nilly all the time, so it's rare that a book club's desires align with mine.

The status is NOT quo.

The Things They Carried

Seriously one of the best books I've ever read, fwiw.

"Not Waving But Drowning," by erinaceous, read by erinaceous. I haven't gotten to the story yet in MoD, but I'm sure it's good because all the stories are good.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I'm chiming in on The Things They Carried -- I love how it's a war story, but it's also a meta story about writing and storytelling.

Kat, yes, exactly. Such an amazing book.
