Farley and Henry! I loved the horse books.
Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."
There were more: Patsy Grey. . . Sam Savitt (although he was mostly an illustrator), C.W. Anderson. . . Dorothy Lyon(s?).

ooh, a whole website devoted to horse books.

Victoria Holt is also somebody else - both of whose books I read.
Jean Plaidy and Phillipa Carr.
Also, Barbara Michaels is actually Barbara Mertz, aka Elizabeth Peters.
That's right and I read Jean Plaidy and Phillipa Carr too.

Barbara Mertz writes very interesting books on Egyptology. Having a talented author is handy when dealing with dull-to-some topics.
Her expertise and knowledge of the subject certainly enhances her fiction--both the Peabodys and the Vicki Bliss books.
I've read a number of the Peabody books, but I petered out on the series. I thought the Peabody clan got a little too perfect over time.
