Congratulations to the class of 1999. You all proved more or less adequate.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Thanks, Gris.

Anyway, IANAL, but this board does not officially sanction the circumvention of copyright. Just so it's there.

For some reason, this made me grin. Go Liese, being all responsible and legal and shit! :)

I think the Nook's idea is awesome...but I'm not as huge a fan of the actual device. I think, much as I like the page-like screen of the Kindle, that I am going to hold out and buy an iPad probably next year. Loses battery quicker, but can do kindle books and ibooks, and all that jazz. Though pricey. So we'll see if I manage to hold out--I already got sucked in and started buying kindle books for my iphone and computer! (There was a book, and I found out it was a trilogy...but the library only had the third book! So I bought the second on kindle, and then I was IN)

Because books.

Does anyone have any idea when Catching Fire is coming out in paperback? Amazon is giving me no love.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Robert Jordan died before he could finish his sprawling, thirteen-book fantasy epic, so his widow hired a thirty-one-year-old fantasy novelist to finish it for him.

I just finished re-reading Lasher. I know I read it before (ages and ages ago, when it was first released), but wow. Did NOT remember that ending. And now I kinda want to read Taltos. But only if the Thrifting PTB make a 1st ed. hardback appear on one of my shopping trips. I have standards. Sort of.

I might have Taltos on my bookshelf at home. I make no promises, but I'm happy to send it over if I do. My Anne Rice collection gets pruned every time we move so I have no idea which ones are gone and which ones I've kept.

I just finished The Strain by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan. Horrible book. The writing and the plot made me cringe. I was tempted not to finish it, but I suffered through it hoping it would get better. It didn't. I definitely won't be reading any further books in this trilogy.

Oooh, yay! Jars, if you do, I would be delighted to give it a home.

Oh, I know. I was so disappointed in it. I kept thinking "Wait, this is part of the plot of Blade 2".

call me jacki; zuisa is an internet nick from ancient times =)

I was substituting in the middle school library last Friday, and in my utter boredom I read the first 150 pages of The Hunger Games, because I had heard good things, and it was just sitting there, alone, on a table, just asking to be read. But then I had to go home and since I am not a student at the middle school, I am sadly ineligible for checking books out. Hah.

But someone in the play I am rehearsing for is going to lend me her copy tonight. I am so excited!
