He's been in more than one? I used to read her books, but I stopped after the one where Peter's oldest daughter (the one on the police force) had the horrific car accident.

He's been in three now. The first one, where he was the suspect in the prom killing (or something -- it's been a while since I read that one); the second one was where he's an adult and mobbed up and ends up helping Decker with finding a missing teenage girl in NY; and then he shows up again as a major character in the latest one. I think that he was mentioned, and maybe one or two phone calls to him, in a few others. It's developed into a totally screwed-up father figure relation with Decker, and an even more screwed-up relationship with Terry and his own kid.
