Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

It's also kind of entertaining to watch the progression of the plots go from mildly implausible to amnesia to aliens to vampire bats.

Right?

The Island Stallion Races (1955) - Two aliens from another world enter the secret valley of Azul Island and offer Steve an opportunity for Flame to compete against the world's fastest race horses.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

People don't believe me when I tell them about the plots.

Because books.

I still love rereading A Little Princess and Little Women. Total comfort reads.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I only read the first Black Stallion.

My favorite horse books were written by Marguerite Henry--Misty of Chincoteague and its sequel, of course, but I equally loved Justin Morgan Had a Horse, King of the Wind, and Born to Trot.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Farley, Henry, and Terhune--lots of happy memories there. Okay, time to hit the secondhand bookshop. Maybe I can find a copy of King of the Wind.

Always Anti-fascist!

Comfort reading: Lake Wobegon days. I've worn out two copies from all my(metaphorical) tripping.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Anyone see anything weird about this?

Something like that happened to me recently. I finally decided to Google for the first book I ever read. I could remember that it was about a cat in space, and that the cover was blue and featured (surprise, surprise), a cat in a space helmet.

Which led me to Space Cat!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Ha! I read Space Cat. I remembered the cover instantly after Fred described it.

move out and draw fire

I finally decided to Google for the first book I ever read.

I have no idea what the first book I ever read was.

I remember the first time I could read - I was sitting on my mom's lap, and she was reading The Wind in the Willows and suddenly I found that I could tell where she was on the page because the words matched what she was saying.
