I can beat up demons until the cows come home, and then I can beat up the cows.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I just finished The Somnambulist. Anyone else read it? The ending started to sag a little under the weight of all the influences and improbabilities, but the world-building was great. Also (decently big spoiler) any book that involves Zombie Samuel Taylor Coleridge is all right with me.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

People are reporting on Facebook that Harvey Pekar has passed.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Shit. Shit shit shit.

Edit: The Plain Dealer confirms.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Damn.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I hesitate to bring it up, but I wish our book club here had been something like megan's.

We had a book club? Was it traumatic and I blocked it out of my memory?

IObookN, remember how I asked for Neal Stephenson recommendations to read at the beach?

All I read was comics. (Granted, it was 3 months' worth of comics, but still.)

So now I have Zodiac and Snow Crash staring accusingly at me.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Was it traumatic and I blocked it out of my memory?

That is quite possible.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

IIRC, the discussion of how to run the book club was kerfuffley, and then when we actually tried it, it sort of fizzled out after two or three books. Then we repurposed the thread for Harry Potter discussion, and then we shut it down.

Yeah, the discussion was fun, I think the co-ordinating of reading was weird.

Because books.

I think like anything with us, choosing one book we all agreed on was a big stumbling block. Which is why I think megan's idea rocks.

Remove the word "book" and you have the guiding light of the whole board. But I love you all. Mostly :)
