Get up...get up, you stupid piece of... What did you do that for? What's wrong with you? Didn't you hear a word he said? All of you! You think there's someone just going to drop money on you?! Money they could use?! Well, there ain't people like that. There's just people like me.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

(I still think Raven is ultimately going to end up with Trevor.)

BITE YOUR TONGUE. I am in complete denial about that possibility.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Hee! But the storyline keeps dropping hints! Dropping ANVILS!

I like Alexander, don't get me wrong. And I love his mother. But I don't think they are Meant To Be.

No. Raven will become a vampire! She will, dammit!

(Alexander's mother is so awesome. I want to grow up to be her ... wait a minute, I kinda already have, haven't I?)

Help! I need suggestions for "age-appropriate" gothy reading material for elementary-school babybats. An 11 year old GCS reader wrote in asking for help.

Gashlycrumb Tinies.

You were always a goth, what did you read in elementary school?

Oh! Scary Godmother!

Things that were 10+ years above what was considered "age appropriate" for my actual age. None of my teachers ever commented on my reading material, and my parents let me read whatever I wanted. This is why I'm not really sure what IS "age appropriate" for an 11 year old.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Witch Baby by Francesca Lia Block. (Technically YA.)

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Oh, that's a good one.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Actually, thinking about what I was reading at age 11, I'd be okay with darker YA stories like Tithe.
