Buffy: Dancing with you is way better than trying to hook up with some good-looking guy. Xander: I think I liked it more when you were kicking me in my puffy groin.

'Get It Done'

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

You don't have to have read it, but it gives the story an extra layer of depth if you have. In fact, it redeemed A Wrinkle in Time for me a little bit. (I read it again not that long ago and had been disappointed because I felt it didn't really hold up as an adult and I was so sad I had chosen to reread it.)

This book was extra fun for me because the main character was born just about when I was.

I should warn you, you will probably figure out the mystery, especially if you've read another book I won't mention here, but I still thought it was fun.

The status is NOT quo.

Just a fun little side note--my friend Devon, an LA actress, has been recording the audiobooks for all the Vampire Kisses books! I thought Jilli would especially appreciate that.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Steam punk, you say? (story and illustration from 1876: "The Steam Man of the Plains.")

Take that Thomas Pynchon. (illo worthy of Against the Day)

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

Wow, that does look a lot like the description of the Inconvenience.

"Oh no! Has falling sky liquid once again caused you the sadness?" -Starfire

Just finished the newest Rachel Morgan and Mercy Thompson books.

LOVED the Mercy Thompson book, but my love for Rachel Morgan is waning (which makes me sad... I was totally in love with this series.)

Oh fun! And yay, audiobooks!

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

OH MAN! If you have not read Christine Falls, you absolutely should. Very very enjoyable.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I just finished Karen Healey's Guardian of the Dead, which is a really good YA fantasy, with a not-thin girl lead doing things her own way and looking out for her asexual best friend. Also, it's set in New Zealand and relies heavily on Maori mythology.

Which is why it's so strange she's had several reviewers announce the novel is set in Australia. Do people honestly not know the difference?

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Skulduggery Pleasant book 4: holy crap. They just keep getting darker and darker, much like the Harry Potter books did.

Good stuff. Dawn, do you have it yet?
