Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."
Connie's got my vote!
I went to a reading at a local bookstore last night, and heard Kelly Link (whom I've heard a bunch of times) and Theodora Goss (whom I'd met, but never heard read) and Alan DeNiro (whom I didn't know at all) read short stories.
All three of them have collections out (two from Small Beer Press, Dora's from someplace else), and all are good readers, although I really cottoned to Dora's work (and reading style) best.
Good times! Go buy their stuff.
Did you ask Kelly Link if she had any news of our old friend Knut?
I did not! But I keep up with him, off and on, on LJ. I saw his name in a couple of fantasy fiction journals at the conference I attended this weekend, too. He's getting himself some name recognition, and it's very funny and goofy to say "I knew him when."
That's great! I haven't spoken to him since he moved lo those many years ago and have to say that I miss the guy.
He popped up when Hec was in town (Chicago, that is) a year or so ago. Twas great to see him.
Jesus. He's had that thing the whole time and I'm only hearing about it now?
(FWIW, he had me friended for months before I figured out who he was. It was a very "wait, you're the long-lost princess?" moment.)
