I'm a single undead gal trying to make it in the big city. I have to start somewhere and they're evil here. They don't judge. They've got necro-tempered glass. No burning up. A great medical plan, and who needs dental more than us?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

It is just that they keep telling me that I should be able to offload work to the group in Boise (who I visited last month) and trust that they can help - but even with forewarning, they have not helped with either of my last two requests.

It sounds like it's time to start CCing the known world when you make requests.

My Work Rant:

Dear Client:

Rather than e-mailing me and four other people the question, "Did X tell you we need to change this web page?" try clicking on the link you're sending me to see that the change has already been made.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

See, I just watched Madagascar again the other night (my version is just the lemurs and the penguins), so now I'm envisioning bt and Wallybee hijacking a cargo ship. Which is hella cute in its own right.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Oh Ginger - cc and bcc and I are good friends. I'm just not sure how far I want to push it right now. If they can't be arsed to help - fine, I don't want their help. I'll figure something out here. It might not be pretty - but I WILL get it done.

I tried the delegate and leave thing. Yesterday. Sent work off as I was leaving (remember I leave at 2:30 which is early for most) and came in today to find that not only had nothing been done but my designated "delegees" both said they were too busy to help before the end of the week.

I've been short handed for 10 out of the last 12 months - with another 3 months to go (at least). I adore my assistant and I want her in good health, but this "can't hire to fill a disability leave void" thing is a PIA.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Dude. Wallybee + billytea = OTP!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Hivemind question: I called the agency last night and left a message with a person last night saying it was important that the head agent call me back that night. He never called. I called him again at 9am and left a message on a machine this time, in which I used the word urgent twice. No call back yet. What time do I call them again?

I'm getting the pig!

sj, with the issue you're dealing with, my advice is to call them every 15 minutes until you get someone to talk to you.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Your delegees suck rocks, Suzi. And whoever decided that you dodn't need to hire anyone because you could count on these other people needs a boot to the head.

I don't know what's "right" in that situation, sj, but I think you are justified in calling every couple of hours until they talk to you if they aren't going to return your calls. I'd base how often you call on how urgent your need to talk to him is.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

What's the problem again, sj? I must have missed it.

Suzi, I dont' think you need to get confrontational if they're people you generally like, but I do think you need to make absolutely sure that the fact that the help isn't forthcoming before it comes back to bite you in the ass.

Brenda - I'm not sure I know what you mean by "you need to make absolutely sure that the fact that the help isn't forthcoming before it comes back to bite you in the ass".

I'm not confrontational. Shoot, I haven't talked with my boss about this at all, even though she was cc'ed on all the e-mail traffic this morning.

I am the only accountant who does not work in the Boise office. The contract I work on is pretty specialized so it is hard to break off work without full out training someone. Which I have offered to do, but the PTB decided that delegating small bits would work better. Yah. Ok.

I'm just in a gumpy ass mood - if you haven't guessed. I usually TRY to keep that stuff under the surface, but it ain't working today. SMITE!!!!

Oooooh, I need Aimee!!!
