Even with a bra, my nipple ring showed through a lot of clothing. I eventually stopped caring, but I do think it was visible.
Yeah, and I suspect I would stop caring, and the current me is already pre-emptively embarassed by the future me. :) But especially since I feel like one of the few perks of perky A-cups is lack of necessity when it comes to bras? Well. On the other hand, I hear they can be fun, nipple piercings...
In other random news, I just got an email from a girl I was hitting on last weekend. Which wouldn't be so weird if it weren't for the fact that I was hitting on her in North Carolina. THIS WORLD IS TOO SMALL. (OK, i'm actually flattered and pleased, and it didn't take stalkeresque moves to get my email, but...still!)
I hear they can be fun, nipple piercings...
Everything else aside, the healing process is quite...interesting.
Awww. Will she still be in Egypt next year? (EDIT: Er, Fay's roommate, that is)
Nope - she's heading back to Blighty. She's there
right now
and I hope she's finding IFG - she doesn't actually have any interviews lined up yet, which is a worry, but she's going to join a couple of recruitment agencies and go and take her CV (and powerpoint presentation burned onto a CD) into as many schools as possible, and hope and pray that it works out. Actually, I may go and do the Buffista equivalent of lighting a candle for her - I've told her about -ma, and about many other Buffista-ish things.
I was just reflecting on how she's changed over the past 3 years, and wondering how I've changed myself - since hanging out with me she's started dressing far more like a girl, shifting both her range of colours and the range of styles, and she's got a number of shiny handbags...(which isn't to say that she always does the girly thing, just that her range of styles and colours she feels comfortable with has broadened quite a lot) and she's watched most all of BtVS, and owns
Once More With Feeling,
and knows all the songs (we invariably sing along as we watch it, and duet on the Giles/Tara one, and the Xander/Anya one), and she's watched most of
Angel,
and got hooked on
Firefly
(we have 2 sets of the DVDs - 3 if you count the black and white pirated copies that I initially had, and sucked her in with) and she's seen
Serenity,
and we've discovered BSG and
Farscape
and
Alias
and
Carnivale
and
Lost
and
Desperate Housewives
together...and when we first met, she was bemused by the fact that I'd take along 3 or 4 books if we were going away for a weekend on holiday, but right now she's reading more than I am! She's all bookworm-y! And, okay, she still doesn't like spicy food (and that includes things that have any black pepper in them), but since I love spicy food, I tend to act as her Official Royal Taster and check out stuff before she eats it. So that works out okay.
I'm sure that I've picked up things from her, but I don't know what they are yet. Hmm. But I'm definitely due a whole army of toasters for my conversion of the flatmate on a number of fronts.
We both like Sci Fi
and
Jane Austen, and we make each other laugh, and we both randomly burst into song (often from musicals) and harmonise as we're wandering down the street/sitting in a taxi/whatever. And we have simlar levels of mess tolerance. And she does make me insane sometimes, but that's the whole living-with-another-human thing, and it's not very often. And we both like painting, and amateur dramatics, and karaoke, and all that jazz. Um. It occurs to me that I may never have a relationship as good as this again, and
that's
pretty depressing, since we aren't actually dating. But there are so many things that I take for granted now, and we're so very much on the same wavelength ... for example, she texted our friend N from the taxi to the airport, to say that the taxi driver had taught her the Arabic for 'I live here' is 'Ana aisha henna', and when N relayed this to us I was all 'So it's not 'Ana Sakkni henna?'' and N said that that was another way of saying it, and after a pause I said 'Ana aisha henna' sounds like 'I bread here' - isn't 'aish' bread?' And then as N was trying to explain the distinction, flatmate texted her with the exact same question. It's SCARY how much we think alike, and indeed say the same thing simultaneously at times.
The last guy who asked her out (who I totally would have gone out with, as he's cute and Irish and did I mention the cute? And he totally digs her) actually
asked my permission,
and seemed decidedly uncertain about whether to believe me when I reassured him that honestly, she really wasn't my girlfriend. Even though he never ever saw us apart. Ever. (She didn't go out with him, incidentally - apparently she felt he wasn't big and strapping enough - more John Sheppard than Ronon Dex.)
...actually, it feels more and more like I'm living in a slash story, as I think about it. Except for the part where she
is
straight, and I don't actually have a crush on her. (This situation would just be excruciating if I had a crush on her.) But you know, if she weren't straight, and were interested, I'd totally date her. 'Cause apart from the sex, everything else is great. And she's cute, and if I have a type, as such, she would be it (curvy brunette).
So, to recap: really going to miss her. Damn it.
I skimmed. I'm in New York. You can all be jealous of me.
sending out ma~~ to your flatmate. I am so glad you guys found each other. and honestly fay, knowing that you can live with someone and live with someone well, should be encourageing for the future. Because being on this board proves that there are a lot more people out there that have all these things in common. ( and if someone doesn't like musicals, but you get get Teh Sex, well you just look at them and shake your head sadly . Really, it is all for the good)
I wouldn't mind being in NY. have the best time, vw.
Timelies.
I'm about to get dressed and go buy eggs for coloring, along with some other goodies for proper basketing.
Roomie~ma. I hope she finds just the right job quickly. She sounds like a great friend.
I am not jealous because I am in my new house about to celebrate our first holiday in it, but NY sounds like fun too. I hope you have a great time vw.
What do we think of this: [link]
Likey. So much so I might fight you for it.

Yay, new home Eastering, Deena.
~ma for your roomie, Fay, and ~ma for y'all's hearts to not break too hard when you have to separate.
Okay, dressed in a shirt that hasn't fit in a couple of years (yay!) with other clothing, of course, and on the way out the door. I just remembered yesterday's Karaism that I had to share first:
"Mom, mom, cookies rhymes with nookies!"
JILLI! PLEI! ANYONE!!
But kind of dress would I wear with this, if I were able to buy it? [link]
