You know, I just... I woke up, and I looked in the mirror, and I thought, hey, what's with all the sin? I need to change. I'm... I'm dirty. I'm, I'm bad with the... sex and the envy and that, that loud music us kids listen to nowadays.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I hate the cell phone culture and the fact that I am expected to be within phone reach of everyone and anyone. I keep my cell phone off unless I am expecting calls, or meeting up with people. I hate the phone. I am totally grumpy regarding this. (and in many other aspects)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I don't answer the phone unless I know I want to talk to the person on the other end right at the moment they're calling. Caller ID has made this infinitely easier.

Mostly lurking...

You know what drives me nuts about the cell phone? When you call someone and they're in a meeting or busy or something and they make YOU feel guilty for interrupting. UM...NO! Turn it off if it's that important, or put it on vibrate and DON'T answer!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The cell phone culture has hit me big time. I have friends who either don't use their home phones, or have no land line at all. Sometimes I don't want to interrupt them! I know they can and will decide which calls to answer and which to not, but sometimes I want to tag my calls as low priority, and I feel really dumb when they pick up in the middle of something else because they don't know that.

Also, they only call me on my cell, so I now pay more attention to it than before (I used to let the batteries run dry all the time). I don't feel any pressure to answer all the time--well, no external pressure. It's all pressure I put on myself.

Exactly! See above, re: I don't answer the phone if I don't want to have a conversation. It's just easier that way. Why does everyone not operate this way? Why do people answer the phone only to say "I can't talk right now I'm driving/in a meeting/in a movie theatre/being chased by hungry lions." Why?

People = confusing. No wonder I don't like talking to them on the phone...

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

but sometimes I want to tag my calls as low priority, and I feel really dumb when they pick up in the middle of something else because they don't know that.

Yeah, I wish there was an option when you're calling to go right into voicemail. My previous cell phone could send email, so sometimes I'd just email someone's pager....

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Yes yes YES! "So why did you pick up the PHONE?!?!?"

Sometimes I turn to text messaging instead. But not everyone likes that, or has it in their plan, so it'll cost them to reply.
