I'm glad to hear tubes won't be required, Cash. Still, any medical procedure that involves your! child! is stressful. I find one way to calm myself and the child is to read out loud to them. Gives you both something other than the procedure to focus on and makes it go faster.

I talked to the pediatrician today. He fell over himself apologizing for the mix up. He really didn't think his office would be that quick about scheduling and contacting me and he though he'd have time to be the first to call me.

That's so good. It's much easier to deal when you don't want to bitchslap the doctor.

That being said, he also said the reason he wants to do the test on Olivia is because there could be a constriction of her airway. Granted, if there is, it's probably not severe but he wants to rule it out as a possibility.

So I'm down with that. She'll get her barium in a bottle, not a tube, though.

He said I will be there the whole time, but I'm still pretty terrified that they'll have to restrain her. It will suck but it will most likely stress me out more than her.

That's going to be hard to see. That said, the test will go better (and probably way more quickly) if she can't squirm away. If it helps, she'll probably be so pissed off by the restraints that she won't notice the rest of it so much.

I'm just hoping we can rule out anything that needs medical intervention and just wait for her to outgrow this thing and leave it at that.

Yes. I'm hoping the test results are so brilliant, the doctor feels like an enormous goober for testing her.

Incidentally, Bostoners and New Yorkers, if you feel a disturbance in the force this weekend, that would be Emmett arriving in your fair cities. His Mom is taking him east for spring break. He'll be landing in NYC on Friday. Going to Beantown Saturday through Thursday. Back to NYC Thurs -Sun. Then back home.

He's about 4'5" now, will definitely be wearing a baseball hat and his hair is to his shoulders. Say hi to him if you see him on the street.

I've started coughing a lot again. I'm wondering if I should start the nebulizers on a regular basis again until the spring allergies pass.

vw, the last time I took Chris to the doctor, his chest was perfectly clear, but the pediatrician said when he seems to be coming down with a cold, or his allergies are acting up, that it's not a bad idea to nebulize once a day for a few days, sort of as a pre-emptive strike.

The thing is, he gets both Albuterol and Pulmicort (a nebulizable steroid, which I doubt you'd want to use right now) in his nebulizer. I think it's the Pulmicort that will help ward off the attacks. Since the Albuterol is only a bronciodilator, I don't know if nebulizing with it is going to do the same thing for you, if your not actually wheezing or feeling asthmatic, or otherwise experiencing chest congestion.
