Spike's Bitches 29: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I suggested she find out from the flower shop partner all the birthdays, anniversaries, etc., that this poor woman will have to go through so that she could mark the occasions, but I can't think of anything else. My friend has twin 18 month-old boys, both parents work and juggle their schedules so they don't have to pay for child care, so time-intensive and expensive options are just not possible.

Are they athletic at all? If they are, and there's a Heart Walk (http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=2281) in their area, that's something they could do with the boys (in strollers) and in his name that's meaningful and not too expensive.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Do you have any ideas for other nice things we might do?

Food is often good. When a friend of my parents lost her husband last month, we got her a spiral cut ham. Good for sandwiches and the like for all the family who'd be coming to town for services.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My doctor answers emails too, but for free. It's very relieving, since getting him to call me back, especially while I'm in the office is terribly fraught.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

For $60.00 extra a year I can ask him medical questions by E-mail. This *rocks*.
Mightily. Damn, that just really does rock.

Do you have any ideas for other nice things we might do?
Bringing by food is always a good choice because, at that time, no one is thinking about things like dinner, or things to make sandwiches for lunch. It's so nice to just be able to open the fridge and there is something to eat.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Thanks Betsy!

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Sparky, I'll second the food rec. Although Plei's suggestion is also cool.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

Do you ever read Bitches, and just laugh and laugh, even though you can't really put your finger on anything all that funny? And then, when this happens, and you also read about all the serious things and not-so-serious things going on in various Bitches' lives, do you sometimes get all verklempt and full of love for both Bitches as a whole and each individual Bitch? I may be all sappy, and maybe it's the lack of sleep talking, or some ailment, or the fact that I don't get to go to our state conference this week for the first year since I started as a librarian, but I love you guys. And no, I don't think it's the lack of sleep or ailment or conference. I think it's that you guys are just the best.

Also, I so want to email my doctor. Free would be nice, but at all would be wonderful.

Librarian Warlord

Heartwalk and food are good ideas and I have passed them on. Thanks.

I now have a meeting where I must remember to keep my big mouth shut, no matter how painful the silence when the Intermediate Boss asks a question.

I'd never have been able to get my permission to test for brown belt without a barrage of e-mails to my doctor. I'm so grateful.
