In nice!Boss's situation, the only way I'd be able to lie is if I'd already thought about the situation and had thought through my answer. I'm not saying I would but only that I'd be unable to be so smooth without preparation. I find the whole "we've decided to fire someone (not for cause) but aren't going to tell them for a while" very weird. It would stress me out if I knew about it.

Spike's Bitches 29: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Maybe? I'm disappointed erika, kinda like you'd just indicated there might be no Santa Claus.
Yeah. Maybe. I'm bitter and my soul is warped.
Heh, you and me both - I was just idly wondering if Hec's source was trying to get him to do something stupid/burn some bridges for either personal gain or just plain maliciousness. But I'm a tad on the paranoid side myself.
I was with you on that bit, Frank.
If she's really nice, I'm voting that she's out-of-the-loopy, and probably that she's been kept out of the loop, for plausible deniability, in just such a situation.
It wouldn't surprise me if that's it.
Wishing nasty skin rashes on them all.
I'm thirty-two. Detective Munch turned 66 this year. I think I should pace myself a little bit.
Well, I figure that Hec will eventually get to find out just exactly how evil his workplace actually is. Sorry, dude.
Hope vw & JenP will be able to attend the F2F, so that the group may shower them with healing affection. And pirate gear. Arrr.

Pffft. Hec's source is the person who once gave him a taxidermied mouse Hamlet as a totally out-of-the-blue Happy Thursday! present. She's malice-free.
Could be out of the loopy, could be delayed for a month longer than anticipated. Either way getting out is required for any hope of sanity.
Is it possible that they are trying to keep you on for a few more months while the new guy learns the job?
Could be. I did point out to them that the recruiting assistant was going to be on her honeymoon for most of April and we'd be especially short-handed.
What is the timeline you got from your source?
End of the month. Month not specified. March or April. But I was pretty sure it was March since (a) they had me calculate my vacation balance through March, (b) end of the month lands on end of the paycycle which is convenient from an HR perspective; (c) we're moving to a new floor in a couple weeks and why bother moving me to cut me loose?
I don't know what the fuck's happening now.
