I'm thinking about buying something very expensive. Maybe an antelope.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Happy Birthday, Raq!

Gronk. I'd planned to grade papers today, but ended up lying on the couch and watching old ER episodes instead. (Partly because I'm tired and lazy, and partly because my back and neck hurt.) I think I'll grade in the afternoon. Which is soon. Hmm. Ought to get dressed, and acquire food and caffeine. (First typed that as "blood and caffeine." Not sure what that's saying about my brain right now.)

Also, need to figure out how to deal with a student who's insisting he handed in four homeworks that I don't have any record of. Generally, for stuff like this, I give them the benefit of the doubt, but generally, it's one homework, and they talk to me about it the day I hand them back, not a month later. I really hate that what I keep thinking is, "How will this affect my evaluations?" rather than "How will this affect this student's learning?"

Happy Birthday, Raq!

Hil, is there someone in the department that you can speak to about the student with the missing assignments? It sounds very suspicious to me (and also to the rest of the world, I suspect). But there might be someone who has had a similar situation who can give you help on how to handle it (and how the dept will back you).

If he makes a fuss about it, I'll talk to the professor who's officially in charge of grades for this class. (Generally, for everything except midterm and final exams, he'll say that my word is final, but if there's an issue, I know that I can officially defer to him.)

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Nora! You were in St Andrews!

bouncebouncebounce!!!

Where did you go? Did you walk down the West Sands (beach next to golf course)? 'Cause my flat was RIGHT THERE!!! Or go on the Pier? Or through the ruins of the Cathedral? Did you go into the Castle ruins? 'Cause the building opposite the castle, called Castle House, is the English Department, where I used to have my tutorials. Oooh! And did you go into St Salvator's Quad? Pretty pretty pretty! And did you eat in the Doll's House restaurant? Which my friend manages?

bouncebouncebounce

LOVE that place.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

Gooooooood afternoon. I am tired and had to golf in thirty degree weather.

Fay, I still remember texting Euan from St Andrews.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I've been to the West Sands and the Cathedral ruins, on a previous visit (that's where Tom's mom lives) The pubs I went to were: The Whey Pat, the Cellar, Central Bar (?? I think that's the name) and one called something weird like Drouthy Neebors. Oh, also a place called One Golf Place. We watched the Cheltenham horse race there on Friday.

I liked the Whey Pat the best, it was the least crowded with students, also, they rotated their cask selection out pretty briskly. They have only 3 cask taps, but I probably had about 6-7 different beers there. Will have to consult my list.

I think we took Eve out to lunch at the Doll's House when we were there last. And, yes, we went up that street that went up from the Castle, because Tom's old Philosphy Department building was on there too. We mostly wandered and sat in pubs.

Sounds like the perfect holiday.
