I doubt it. Actually, I'm sure they could *get* it, but my *using* it would be too disruptive. Really, all I need to do is be allowed to go back to the good old-fashioned pen-and-paper method.

I'm having a bad recurrence of my wrist tendonitis that started (the recurrence) pretty much when we switched our production process to this asinine everything-on-the-computer system (versus editing with a pen on a paper manuscript).

I'm sorry, Steph. Would you be able to use a wacom tablet and pen to do this? It seems that the mechanics would be similar, while still keeping things all computerized.

I'm glad you can still do that, though. I've had my RSI long enough that using pen and paper actually hurts more than using accommodated computing equipment. Even though it was the opposite when I first got this stuff.

Of course, this is "do as I say not as I do", but it would probably help to get voice recognition at home. You'd be saving hand energy for work, then.

We got a little bonus this year (I guess it's good it came right when I was being laid off, at least), and the first thing I spent it on was getting an upgrade for iListen. I bought a PC just to run Dragon Naturally Speaking but I hate PCs so much that I hardly use it. I hope I can train iListen better and get into the habit of dictating at home. Especially because using the laptop in bed hasn't been the most ergonomic thing for me...

I hope it works out for you, Teppy. I can certainly sympathize with negotiating the treacherous shoals of a disability at work.

I lurve my Wacom tablet and can't survive without it. I'd recommend the discontinued Intuos 2 over the Intuos 3, though. The Intuos 3 is less ergonomic.

Well, this is so fraught, because it only started after we switched to an all-electronic system that many of us strenuously objected to *before* the switch, and RSI was one of the reasons. And the official response from The Higher-Ups was basically "Oh. Well, you're going to have to make this change anyway."

And did I mention that the decision to make this change came from people who don't actually do what I do, and have NEVER done what I do, so they have no idea of what it entails?
