[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Erika, so your dad is not letting you go?

Some vibes would be good...I don't know what sort. I wasn't gonna say anything, because I'm still looking to pull it out, but think of the drama when I do show up after a House-like last-second save. ETA: Well, maybe not. He's very good at talking about self-denial (for me) responsibility(for me) while he goes around and does what he wants...but in our situation staying home does make more sense, but what does that have to do with what anyone *wants*. Not much.

Tons of vibes headed your way, erika. I am totally counting on getting to meet you.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

we just have a Situation and I might not get to f2f anymore so...

Um, NO. There is no "might not." I don't care if we have to get you here by dogsled, your ass is going to be HERE come mid-May, and the entire rest of you had bloody well better come along for the ride. By hook or crook or last-minute save, you will be here, or I will personally drive out to Arizona and kick your father from there to Schenectady. Grr.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

What JZ said. This F2F cannot happen without erika. Your dad needs a serious cluesticking, chica.

As fun as that could be for my whole family...I suppose he would be within his rights, although sometimes I wish he'd pass up his right to be a dick from time to time, but to him control=love. control+ money= big love. Never mind it makes me feel like a rock-throwing Palestinian...and I'm still pissed off about stuff working against me from '04, and... But I'm not so sure about you all circling the wagons this time...my mother feels pretty bad in re Failure to Provide so having cash drop in on us might...compound something, and I have to not do that. You don't suppose she'd believe I sold ten stories in three months, do you? Damn, should have made nice with the drug dealers. ETA: My mother will probably be able to do it; he still has The Feelings for her sometimes, but he still made her feel like she sucks over our various indebtednesses.

Mostly lurking...

I need some advice. A little backstory first...

Our landlord has been working on the roof, which is right above our floor, for, oh, over a year. We have no idea what he's doing up there, but it's loud and taking forever. But, it also causes sawdust and other things, like, well yesterday, a 4-inch nail fall through. The area he's working on? Well, it's right above my desktop computer and desk. I've just been cleaning it up for the past year, but I'm really sick of it. And, actually not thrilled that 4-inch screw found it's place onto my keyboard.

I just heard him start working on the roof again. Do I go up there and try to talk to him about, or do I continue to let it go?

Oh, and so you have all of the information. I had just taken a painkiller when I heard him start to work on the roof. So, I'm probably not in my most effective communication place.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

vw, at the very least, he should tell you when he's going to be up there so you can arrange to not be at your desk. And he should be paying to clean your apartment afterwards.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Erika--it's a long time between now and May--maybe folks could try to raise some benjamns to help out with the trip and we could see how things stand as the date gets closer.

Coding and Sleeping

Where is the F2F this year?

There's no way I can go, but I'm still curious.
