What Ellen said. Looks like a fabulous trip.
Spike's Bitches 29: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Congratulations, Cass, on completing your journey. I look forward to your impending re-personhood!

I don't want to post too much about this, but my personal judgment may be off, so please let me know at my profile email if I do, right away if I already have!
libkitty, there's no such thing as too much -- post what you need to.
On a lighter note:
Take lots of pictures and bring us all back a cabana boy, 'k?
I second this, especially the second part. I really don't think I should be cabana boy-less just because we have no cabanas.
Now I'm earwormed for: Yes, we have no bananas. Check out the music at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (go figure) [link]
And no, I'm not that old.
So in an effort to recharge the positive vibrations I'm going to ask everybody to post two things:
1) Remembrance of a favorite spring day.
2) Something you're looking forward to in the next month.
1) Today was not half bad, it being 80 degrees out. Nice. But I was at work. So I'ma go with the time I was on Easter break at Georgetown, and all my friends had gone home, so I went down to the tidal basin and sat by the blooming cherry trees and did my homework.
2) I'm going to San Francisco!!! I'm looking forward to THAT!
Wow. Those pictures are unreal libkitty. How awful. Good job done by the firefighters to keep it from taking out several blocks.
Spring. Not so much Spring day as first Spring I enjoyed at all. Growing up Spring meant melting snow, mud, floods, black flies, and all things ugly and cold. After I married I moved to Virginia and was stunned to discover that Spring could mean flowers, sunshine, and more flowers. It was so beautiful. I have never been to back to my city of birth in the Spring since then. I'll visit Winter, Summer, or Fall, but Spring is supposed to mean flowers, not mud.
Thing I am looking forward to this month. Whee! My sister is visiting for Spring Break. Yay!
Hmm, I don't have any exciting plans this month, but we had a beautiful spring morning today -- that was nice.
(It devolved into a wintry afternoon and evening - but that's just March for you.)
Welcome, Fern!
but Spring is supposed to mean flowers, not mud.
All the flowering trees on my drive to work are starting to bloom! Pink and white and yellow and fuschia! Love it.
Not really looking forward to anything special in the next month. But a great spring day --
The last Thursday in April 2003. My co-worker K and his native-of-Ireland fiancee S were getting married on Saturday in her home church in County Kildare. I was a groomsman. The wedding rehearsal was at noon in the 100+YO church. This is where most of the Americans met most of the Irish contingent (well, T and I had met a few the night before, but that's another story).
Then, after a few wedding-related errands (such as final fitting on the tux), off to the rented house in Hollywood (County Wicklow) that was the groom's party's base of operations. Objective: Introduce the Irish contingent to that classic American tradition, the rehearsal dinner. More specifically, a cookout. With bathtubs filled with beer and other beerlike substances.
The weather had been cool and showery all day. But it cleared off in time for the festivities.
Which started with a cookout. Then moved to a couple of musicians setting up for music. Starting with Irish tradition, audience vocals. J sang "You're My Best Friend" to his wife M. S's mother sang a few of her favorites, including "One Day at a Time." Then the folk dancing started.
The first good thing about Irish folk dancing is that it isn't too difficult to pick up. The second good thing is that the proper spirit is more important than getting the steps right.
So the day ended at a house in the hills of County Wicklow (if you've seen Zardoz, you've seen the lake we had a great view of). Folk dancing. And since this is sheep country, with the accompaniment of sheep and lambs.
