Her genderfuck Master and Commander story is...something else.

Yes, this. I fear to read, yet cannot turn turn away. I wish I didn't like it so much. I shouldn't like it so much. And yet...

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Hee.

I think there are a couple of points where I think "no, uh-uh, too easy." It felt less like "oh, of course, they'd do that" and more like "oh, well, they have to do that so the plot goes where she wants it to go." But on the other hand, where she wanted to go was lots of fun, so.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

It was sheer self-indulgence from end to end, which is fun when it's done this well.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Yeah, there was a sense of inevitibility from the very beginning, but getting there was a fun ride.

Well, it's shalott. You're pretty secure in the knowledge that John and Rodney aren't going to die in a horrible accident.

God help me if she ever decides to write that story.

Well, they could die in a horrible accident and then get better...

ETA: Wait, have any of the Atlantis folks died yet? Not counting alternate versions? Sheppard, in 38 Minutes, I guess.

Man, they are way behind on deaths and resurrections.
