That's the thrill of living in the Hellmouth! There's a veritable cornucopia of fiends and devils and ghouls to engage ... Pardon me for finding the glass half-full.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

Rougher than usual day at work, honey?

You know that sound Westley makes after Count Rugen uses The Machine on him for the first time? I've been making that noise all day.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

My pet peeves are "free reign" and "tow the line," especially because I see them more often than the correct versions these days.

Oh, and I've noticed a lot of writers with an otherwise good grip on grammar are flummoxed by plural possessives. I got a manuscript back from a critiquer with the phrase "soldiers' wives" circled. I puzzled for several minutes before I figured out she was correcting my correct usage.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Susan, those are my peeves as well. I also get tetchy when people use "flare" when they mean "flair."

Don't even get me started on epithets (the tiny slayer, the blond vampire, etc.)

And what's with the obsession with full names, first, middle, and last? It's all over fanfic, and I'm starting to see it in unpublished genfic. I can't quite put my finger on why, but it just looks somehow...amateurish to feel compelled to open a story with, "Buffy Anne Summers blah blah blah."

Art Crawl!!!

It's as if they're compelled to reveal the incredible depth of their knowledge of the show by using her full name.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

But that just makes me think that it's being narrated by her mom after finding an excessive phone bill or notice from the principal's office about fights at school.

Can people recommend post-eps for "A Human Reaction" (Farscape s1)? Google is giving me no love, and I can't figure out Leviathan's interface; it says there are 64 Farscape fics, but it only shows me the first page.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Betsy, isn't that a great picture?

Check my last 50 LJ entries for the one where I requested S1 fic. Suela put some links in my comments. I think I was requesting it right after I saw A Human Reaction.
