Te's Post-Grad series was, I think, the first or one of the very first pieces of fic I read. (Okay, I read the entire Sith Academy, and at one point knew it chapter and verse, but I've never seen Star Wars itself so that was more like reading a dizzyingly coherent, fuck-ass funny, original collaborate world.) It's a good way to enter. I count S/X among one of my favorite ships. Anna S.' S/X, for example, has me gibbering at her feet. But then again, that could just be the fact that it's, you know, Anna.

Plus, "S/X" is one of the few abbreviations that's never going to get you in trouble because someone thought you were talking about one of the other six characters with names that start with L or W or G, you know.

But I don't consider myself to be a writer. I'm neither prolific nor dedicated enough.

Getting back in the groove, hm ... I honestly don't know. I am probably the very antithesis of a proper writer, because I let the muse command me, I don't command hte muse. I feed her a lot, reading other people's stuff, watching shows that take place in the same milieu of whatever I'm trying to work on (History Channel is great). If I need a kick-start for a specific story, I'll go back to the very beginning and read it, and by the time I get to the place I stopped I've generally primed the pump enough to go on. Sometimes, though, a story or world hits the wall so hard it takes months or years for the ball to come back from its bounce.

See, while I don't know precisely what being 'bapped' entails, it sure does sound porny to me.

And, seriously, writing is just a hobby, an amusement, for me. It's been years since I wrote seriously.

Though I did read many romance novels while I was in Toronto (Harlequin 'Blaze') and could only that that I could do that so much better. Hell, any one of us could do that so much better. Maybe there is a way to make some money out of writing porn.

Original porn, for me at least, involved far more work than I ended up having time for, once I started working. Which annoys me. Get halfway done with something and BAM! Wall time.

Oh well.

Earlier on in this thread (I think it was here) a very evil person introduced me to the Very Secret Diaries, which introduced me to the idea of Gandalf/Balrog. Now I have the song from Saturday Night Fever 'How deep is your love?' and nearly a filk.

Bother.

Yeah, but couldn't a lot of our fanfic be tweaked and ready for the original fiction market? And I suppose we'd have to change 'vampire' into, I don't know, 'investment banker'.

I think that's what we've tried to do with the Porn Anthology, convert either our talents or our stories into something salable. I had a good story, it just isn't a porn story. The story I wrote set in the bathhouse could be converted. But I don't know hte markets, and half of the appeal that I see is in the characters themselves. I need to get off my duff and do the second draft of that novel I wrote (I'd send it to betas, but the opening doesn't match the ending and I haven't done the body work to make them match yet.)

Oh, and "bap" means to smack someone very lightly. Generally used to express disapproval or disagreement. Frequently done to the back of hte head.
