I've been working on a song about the difference between analogy and metaphor.

Oh, what's the name of the good Buffy/Dark Angel crossover? The one with Faith in it.

Hth's Witness.

If I only had a brain...

My James Mason-oost was triggered by his turn in North By Northwest. And, I noticed somewhat tardily, he's got big ol' HoYay with Martin Landau.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Tsk, Betsy. I noticed that the first time I saw it, years before I ran across actual slash fiction. :-)

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

That sounds like how I felt about Ben-Hur when I saw it at 19. My friends were aghast I hadn't seen it, and they sat me down to watch it, and when the intermission between tapes came, I was like, "So.... gay?" And they all sort of looked at each other and said, "I don't remember it being like this when I was a kid."

brillig

Oh, gods, you want HoYah, watch "Spartacus", with that Roman official drooling none too subtly over Tony Curtis.

Well, I noticed it the second or third time I saw the movie, long before I ran into slash. It's kind of hard to miss, once you notice how much the Landau character hates the Eva Marie Saint character.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Oh, gods, you want HoYah, watch "Spartacus", with that Roman official drooling none too subtly over Tony Curtis.

Boy Howdy! Lecherous!Larry Olivier and his oh-so-subtle (bwah!) seduction of the preternaturally pretty young Tony Curtis. Baby oil and mini skirts all the way, baby - I didn't know that slash existed when I saw this, but it still induced a world of wibble. Now, of course, I see the HoYay everywhere, but when it's presented to you on a silver platter, half nekkid and covered in oil, well...

You sip / say it's your crazy / straw say it's you're crazy / as you bicycle your soul / with beauty in your basket

In other news, this pulled my heart out of my chest and did a jig on it.

I love it. I want to bake this author cookies.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

I followed RL's link to the author's page of fic, which led me to this.... and oh my.

I feel compelled to qualify this by saying that I've only clicked on the story because we were just talking about Homicide on Previouslies and I had Tim Bayliss on the brain. That I am not much of a slash-bunny. That I've only watched Due South sporadically, and only a couple of episodes with Ray K., and that I've never read Due South fanfic. Despite all that, and despite the sad fact that I wouldn't recongnize a good Ray K. voice if it came over here and bit me in the ass, I love this fic. I lurve it. I luff it. I wanna watch the Due South, the Ray K. years so that I could get to know this guy.

I'll have to go read everything on this writer's page now.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

the woobieness of being so ickle

I just like this (apparent) example of English as spoken by a native of that green land.
