See, normally, things come through by authors I don't recognize, from people I don't recognize, and I don't bother with reading them so I can give a scathing critique (because at this point, with LJ and list traffic, I can honestly say I *have* heard of most of the good writers out there, and new ones don't go unnoticed.)

Maybe I should start.

t fandom moan Current major irritation with fandom: people who are good writers, but use American words when writing in a British fandom (e.g. Harry Potter). Hogwarts does not have semesters. It has terms. There are other examples. I'm sure Britishisms in American fandoms are as annoying to Americans, but I don't notice those. t /moan

I'm right with you Am -- and it does go both ways, not to mention the problems with regionalisms used wrong, historically appropriate vocabulary, and so on. People writing in worlds they're not familiar with. Which is fine, but get a beta.
