Katie, you rule. Many thanks. I'm SO happy to see she's committed to finishing the Rihannsu stuff. And I want her toys.

Fan Fiction: Writers, Readers, and Enablers
This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.
It was Basingstroke who wrote the original Five Things story, for Smallville.
Te's hosting the archive: [link]
Thanks, Ms. Lizard! It's good to see you 'round these parts again.
Bummer, the archive's closed. Ah, well. I'm always late to the table.
Well, it wasn't too comprehensive anyway.
Actually, I was really, really annoyed when I first found that link, because the archive went up the day that Kita's Five Things for Spike was completed, and before that, there'd been no challenge info posted anywhere I could find with aggressive Googling and poking around LJ and asking here. I hadn't even been able to find out who had made it a challenge. The archive was listed as closed from the moment it went up. So I was all, ahhhrgh, that's keeping out everybody who isn't one of their friends! Sulk, sulk, sulk, I'll write mine anyway & post it at least to the BFA.
But as you can see, it's been updated since then, even though it said it was closed. And some of those stories, like this one, were definitely written before the challenge started. Making it seem that archivage there is loosely-chosen, or invitation-only, or, maybe, if-you-email-Te-and-ask. So, m'dear, I'd try just that.
Huh. See. Even though someone e-mailed me the challenge page link before it went live, and told me I should write one, I still, uh, won't be asking anyone to list mine.
Because I have severe I-don't-invite-myself-to-the-party issues.
Wow, I'm a neurotic freak. I'll just go do archive maintenance or something.
Unhelpful analogies in fanfic:
(The context is Carter from SG-1 stepping out of a wormhole)
Her stomach still heaved like it did taking 8 g's in an F-16, and her foot impacting the soil - or in this case, polished marble landing - of an alien world still shivered through her like an orgasm. God, she loved her job!
Okay, see, I didn't need to know that. If there were going to be porn later I'd be fine with it, but there is no porn.

Okay, I don't think I'd see it that way, but, you know, this could be crazy lizard mores that normal people scorn. Because it doesn't *say* it's only for certain people, it just says it's over, but still it's being updated, so unless that's weirdly passive-aggressive there's like a contradiction thing-- unless, oh, that's what "closed" means? Not in terms of date but in terms of invitees? Because that hadn't occurred to me.
I'm blushing very hard. On the internet, no one can see you're redfaced....
I don't read much fanfic, but I've lurked in this thread since the beginning. I'm sure this article from the front page of today's Washington Post would be of interest.
Very Harry Potter-centric, and focuses on the copyright law issues.
