Fan Fiction: Writers, Readers, and Enablers
This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.
Huge wrod. I'm still composing a feedback letter for her. I'm counting the superlatives.
I can't even express how much I love it that you make the distinction.
I do really think that it's important, actually-- because the whole point of poetry is that it has linebreaks, which are another kind of punctuation, another way to give shape to the words as they lie on the flat surface of the page. Poetry written on any sort of curved or jagged surface is redundant, and kind of awkward-feeling. I mean.
RL, did you, by any chance, get a package from (me)Greg?
Great, I had to sign off the phones while reading the last bit of "Transfigurations", especially when
Harry made the garden.
Now I have a headache, but I'm happy.
How d'you go about getting something beta read?
You ask and someone says, "Me, me, send it to me!" and sometimes two or three people say it, so you send it to whomever said me and then you wait for a response. Often, who responds depends on who's around when you ask and/or what fandom it is.
Thank you. So, um, does someone want to beta a Faithfic I'm writing? Basically need it deUked more than anything else. Well, I hope that's all, anyway.
Uttad, I'll do it if it can come back to you tomorrow, though it might be later tonight. Askye has a good Faith voice and Elena and Connie are brilliant betas if you need more. Profile address is good. I think I'm okay at un-UKing things, but I cut my teeth on British authors and still prefer the "right" spelling of a lot of words to the American ones, so I'm not promising to catch everything.
Oh, leave the UK spellings, I say. I always do. The important thing is to get rid of UKisms and references that Faith wouldn't know.
How long is it UTTAD? I've got a beta to do tonight, but if it's short I should be able to do it by morning.
Deena, Elena. Thanks. It's about 6,800 at the moment ... it's not even a quarter finished. But rather than carrying on regardless, I thought I better see if it was worth carrying on.
Aaaanyway, it doesn't need to be looked at tonight or anything, I thought I'd have some fun with my very own shiney writers block before carrying on.
It can be found here.
It's set after S1 Angel and S4 Buffy.
UTTAD, if you could mail it to me (profile address) as a Word doc or a text file, that would make it easier for a thorough beta. If you just want a read and dis or en couragement, I'll pop to the site.
