Bill, my friend, strange deeds are afoot at the Circle K.

"Manhattan Nocturne" is one of those stories where, knowing the history books she's read, I can say, oh, that bit comes from George Chauncey, and that bit.... It's a major distraction to have research not feel, well, digested for me.

I keep trying to get Yahtzee to post the original first chapter of Phoenix Burning to her LJ. And to write the SV stories she's told me she has in her head. Gah.

If you're ok with slash, Kita's Slashing the Angel archive has a really good selection of, well, Angel slash. It's at [link] somewhere. And, oh, Lar's eterniata archive, which sadly I no longer even know the URL for was at one point *the* best place to find good Buffyverse fic. I don't know how actively it's being updated now, though.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Wrod. Oh, Jeez - Kassie & Lar's highly improbable Xander/Lindsey Epic Trilogy was one of the first pieces of slash that I read, and it absolutely knocked my socks off. Don't know whether I'd be as impressed all these long months later, with so many more good stories read, but I really did adore it then.

I'm sorry to hear it. I haven't read any history books about NY myself - really, for all intents and purposes it might as well have been set on Mars. Exotic as you like. I just love it, but YSpikeStoryOfChoiceMV.

You should really read George Chauncey's Gay New York, which is one of Herself's major sources. It's a fun, well written book, a really eye-opening history of American gay culture, and for me, as a New Yorker, it's one of those books that made me look at my city in a whole new way.

The Xander/Lindsey epic was a lot of people's favorites when it was written. I liked it, but I really loved the unfinished vamp!Xander/Angel epic. I'm still heartbroken that they never finished it!

Thrive to spite them

I can find the erentia nocturne archive, just let me look through my links.

Also I loved the Xander/Lindsey series except for the very last bit.

Thanks for all the fish.

Xander/Lindsey? Drool. I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate unfinished stuff. Especially if it's good.

Fay, I love you when you pimp me out.

Self-pimping...

I'm loving the LiveJournal Farscape Friday drabble challenge. Right now the challenge is just write a S1 drabble.

Here's mine, about D'Argo...

I'm beginning to understand this now. It's all about the journey, isn't it?

Just a heads up for those who are interested: the new issue of Bitch magazine has a longish article about slash. It's not bad - the writer has obviously read a fair amount of fanfiction, and she doesn't equate slash with porn. My biggest quibbles: the Spock/Kirk example that opens the article is terrible, the kind of thing that would make someone who has never read fanfiction before roll their eyes in disgust, and the only example of slash that she mentions from the Jossverse is Buffy/Willow. Huh? Clearly, BTVS is not her fandom.

For once I would love to see an article written that didn't mention Kirk/Spock.
