In some fandoms, it seem to be the difficulty of getting them together at all is the attraction.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

after all, her existence didn't stop the show from doing that series of eps where Sam fell in love and fathered a child by another woman (I feel like he Lept into her defense attorney or something, but I haven't seen the show in several years, so MY memory may be the swiss-cheesed one here.).

First he lept into her attorney, then he lept into her fiance, then he lept into someone. Hmm. The attorney again? Crap, it's been a while. There were three connected leaps, some nookie, and a baby.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Wasn't it three different people? At the very least, time had passed, because the girl who was his daughter was several years old.

Eh. It was around the last season anyway. The quality started going real funky.

Maybe he lept into her (edit: the mom)? The last one, I'm totally blanking on.

Yeah. That was the season of Wonky.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Had to pull up an ep guide.

First one: A pair of unsolved murders marks just the tip of the iceberg when Sam leaps into a sheriff in a small Louisana town. Rumors of a history of family insanity, the suspicions surrounding his daughter Abigail's involvement in the murders, and ghostly visions of his institutionalized wife just make matters worse.

Second one: Finding himself back in the same small Louisiana town, in the arms of Abigail, now twenty-one, Sam must prevent an angry crowd of townspeople from lynching his fiancee, following the disappearance of a young boy whom she had been babysitting. This is the one where he fathers the child.

Third one: Sam is an aging lawyer, recruited by Abigail, now thirty-three, to defend her when she is put on trial for the murder of Lita Aider, the woman whose daughter Abigail was accused of killing almost twenty-five years earlier. Includes "Kimberly Cullum (as Sammy Jo Fuller)", who is Sam's daughter.

There. Now we remember.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

You know, it *is* an interesting question. Can you write believable slash about someone who is canonically in a committed relationship with a woman? I've tried Lemon Lashes' Firefly series, but found that I was totally unable to suspend my disbelief at the thought of Wash shagging some another member of the crew while being married to Zoe.

Similarly, I wonder how the Jack/Daniel slashers from Stargate handled Daniel's very real devotion to Sha're pre-Forever in a Day. I can see the two getting together after Sha're's death, but before? Wouldn't such behavior be fundamentally at odds with what we know of Daniel?

Yay! Dana!

That would have driven me nuts all day.

Quite a specific request for fanfic recs: I've been reading a lot of stuff like this in the last few days: Spike/Buffy, post Lessons, fairly terrible. Is there any post Lessons stuff out there that's better? I don't care if it's het or slash, so long as it's Spike centric and not spoilery for episode 2. If the answer's "no", that's okay, but I figured this was the place to ask.

Ditto on the Lemon Lashes thing.

I think it could probably be done, but not by a) completely ignoring the issue or b) demonizing the woman and kicking her out the door. It would require a very delicate touch, and I can think of maybe five people I'd trust to pull it off.

Can you slash Angel in BtVS season 1 or 2? Yes, but you have to be very, very, VERY careful how you deal with the fact of Buffy's place in his (un)life. People have done it- Angel/Xander, for example, often takes place in that time frame- but it's hard to make it work.
